RIP Lorenzo Odone!

RIP Lorenzo Odone, you fought a good fight. Lorenzo Odone died of pneumonia after getting food stuck in his lungs.

Lorenzo was diagnosed with adrenoleukodystrophy when he was 6 years old. Adrenoleukodystrophy or ALD is a rare inherited disorder that leads to progressive brain damage, failure of the adrenal gland, and eventually death.

Doctors originally gave Lorenzo Odone 2 years to live when he was first diagnosed, however Lorenzo died the day after his 30th birthday.

Lorenzo’s Oil

Lorenzo Odone’s parents Michaela and Augusto Odone fought diligently to save their son. They created an oil that delayed the onset of this disorder in boys.

Lorenzo’s Oil is a movie based on Michaela and Augusto’s efforts in creating this oil that they believed help their son fight the disease.
