Former United States Olympian and Major League catcher John Marzano is dead. He fell down a flight of stairs after possibly suffering a heart attack. He was found late this afternoon at his home in Philadelphia. Marzano was just 45 years old.

Former Major League Catcher


John Marzano played for the Red Sox, the Rangers, and the Mariners. He played at Temple University for three years before reaching the big leagues. He played for Boston from 1987 to 1992.

Former U.S. Olympian


Marzano secured a place as a catcher on the 1984 U.S. Olympic team that also included future major league stars Mark McGwire, Barry Larkin and Will Clark.
